Hello and welcome to Sperry Studios, homepage of author/illustrator Brooke Sperry! In addition to children's book creation, I am also a mixed media fine artist, and fourth grade teacher currently residing in Nebraska. I share this incredible journey with my husband, two amazing daughters, a boatload of house plants, and WAY too many pets.

A member of SCBWI, 12 x 12 Picture Book Challenge, Journey to Kidlit, and several critiquing groups. I am always striving to learn more and stay current in the ever changing world of kid lit.  Trained in illustration under the tutelage of the world-renowned illustrator EB Lewis, I learned so much and really honed my skills with him!I was the 2021 winner of the SCBWI Southwest Texas Portfolio competition, and a #kidlitcritiqueday winner as well as having been featured three times in SCBWI's regional newsletter. I received recognition during the 2022 12 x 12 August Illustrator's challenge. Lastly, I participated in the 2023 Portfolio Showcase at SCBWI's Summer Conference.

My art has been described as Old-school technique (think 1960's- 80's analog art) with a fresh new spin of color and humor. I am absolutely in awe of the wonder and magic kids see in every day things and try my best to capture that in each and every piece. My specialties include humor, detailed backgrounds, expressive faces, and what I refer to as Chaos Embodied- the mess left behind from kids just being kids!
